Neelanjana
Overview
Neelanjana is an original Carnatic Janya Raga created by Mahesh Mahadev, derived from the 50th Melakarta Raga – Namanarayani. Conceived as a heartfelt musical offering to Lord Shani (Shaneshwara), the raga embodies divine qualities such as justice, patience, discipline, endurance, compassion, and inner peace.
The name is inspired by the sacred invocation "Nīlāñjana Samābhāsam," describing the radiant blue brilliance of Lord Shani to provide a distinctive melodic voice for devotional music.

Neelanjana derives its foundation from the 50th Melakarta Raga, Namanarayani, while establishing its unique musical identity through distinct phrases, prayogas, and aesthetic expression.
